Screen recording → written procedure

Record once. Ship the video and the doc.

You recorded a walkthrough. It answered one person, once. Nobody can skim it, search it, or paste it into the wiki. ShowStep turns the same recording into a numbered, illustrated procedure you can actually hand to the next person — without writing it twice.

What you said

“…okay so settings is down the left here, and then — uh — members, it’s the one between billing and integrations, and then up the top right there’s invite member, and you just want to leave that on member, don’t give people admin…”

What you ship

5 steps

Invite a teammate to the workspace

Adds a person at member level and sends the invitation email. Needs admin access.

  1. 00:04 Open Settings from the sidebar.
  2. 00:21 Select the Members tab. It sits between Billing and Integrations.
  3. 01:08 Click Invite member in the top right.
  4. 01:52 Enter the email address and leave the role as Member.Admin can change billing — don't grant it by default.
  5. 02:29 Press Send invite, then check the row appears under Pending.

The problem with recording it

A video answers one person, once.

Recording a walkthrough takes two minutes and feels like you documented something. Three weeks later, nobody can use it.

You can't skim a video

Someone who only needs step 4 has to drag the scrubber until they find it. Reading a numbered list takes six seconds.

You can't search inside one

Nobody finds the recording where you explained the billing export. They ask you again instead.

It doesn't live in the wiki

Your docs are in Notion or Confluence. A video link in a page is a dead end, not documentation.

Where this sits

Today you pick one: the video, or the document.

Recording tools give you a video nobody can scan. Documentation tools capture clicks but not a person explaining why. So teams do both jobs twice — or skip the second one.
